In November 2001, Didonato Associates, P.E, P.C., asked Harcon Corporation to provide
access for the inspection of three adjoining, twelve-span structures crossing the Power
Reservoir at New York Power Authority's main generating facility at Niagara Falls.
We were told shutting down the intakes where we were working would cost the Owner
between twelve and sixteen thousand dollars/day, depending on the power demand.
Estimated inspection time: 12 days. Using our Lift Boat, we finished the job in
two and a half days. Savings to Owner: between $ 114,000.00 and $ 152,000.00.
Our Lift Boat was designed and built by a team consisting of Harcon personnel,
a boat builder, and a naval architect. She's certified. She's stable. We couldn't
be prouder.
Max .working height: 38 ft.
Draft: about 20 inches.
Platform capacity: three persons.
Like any other machine, she's got a few limitations.
Obviously, for safety reasons, we won't use her in heavy current.
And because of her size and weight, we can't launch her just anywhere.
But where the conditions are right, e.g., on lake bridges or on slow-moving rivers,
our Lift Boat is a thing of beauty.
